Here’s how I catalog my stock of leaded resistors. Each value has a card, and each card has ten resistors. A plastic bag holds the excess stock of the more common values.
I used a stack of 3″x5″ notecards, a binding clip, a pair of scissors, and a stapler.
Each card has a narrow strip folded and stapled over the edge, and another strip stapled near the middle, just far enough from the folded end that a strip of resistors can slide in and out. Resistor values are written on the edges of the card, making it easy to find the right resistor value quickly. Resistors with additional stock in the plastic bag have an extra mark on the card.
When removing a resistor to use in a project, I can slide the strip partially out of the card and remove the leads from the tape, or I can go in with diagonal cutters and snip it out directly.
